Loving husband, father and grandfather, Alfred Martin, joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 22, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Al was born in Delphos, Ohio on August 3, 1934 to Alfred and Loretta Martin but lived in El Paso his entire life. He graduated from Austin High School in 1953 and attended IBC as well as numerous other specialized training courses. Al retired from GMAC after 27 years of employment, and was always proud of the fact that he has held a master barber license for over 50 years. Al was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Redella. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty, two daughters, Lisa Thompson (Eric), and Shelly Brewer (Stephen), six grandsons, Rion and Jake (Kelsey) Thompson, Ashton, Bailey, Ethan, and Parker Brewer, one brother, Joseph (Charlene), and two nephews, James (Hallie) and Martin Lee Vann. Our special thanks to Dr. Michael Gabbert and the numerous other physicians who cared for Al over the past months, as well as the Emergency crew, ICU, CCU, and Intermediate Care nurses at Providence Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home West on Sunday, November 25 from 4-6 p.m. Graveside service will be on Monday, November 26 at 1 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery, Chapel Garden.
