Alfonso Poncho Vasquez

Alfonso (Poncho) Vasquez- age 80- went to be with our Lord on Friday, January 9, 2009, due to complications of a pulmonary disease. He will always be remembered, in his own way, as a loving husband and father to his wife and children. He was highly respected by all his relatives and all who came to know him. Poncho greatly enjoyed working around his house and helping others. He will be greatly missed, but most definitely, not forgotten. Alfonso was preceded in death by his parents; Jorge and Maria Nava-Vasquez, his brother; Jose Angel Vasquez and grandson; Robert William Vasquez. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years; Felicita Arroyo-Vasquez, son and spouse; Alfonso Vasquez Jr. (Raquel), daughter and spouse; Margarita Vasquez-Brown (Jack), brothers; Alfredo and Felix Vasquez, sisters; Irene Nava and Rosa Palacios, grandchildren; Joanna St. John, Victoria Sanabria, Felicia A. Vasquez, Alexandra C. Kilbane, Joshua J. E. Brown and Celina B. Brown. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina, with a Vigil beginning at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church Dolan Chapel, 355 Dolan, at 12 pm on Monday, January 12, 2009. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
