Alfonso Cardenas Jr., 62, passed away on August 12, 2018 in El Paso, TX. He was born on February 17, 1956 in Brownsville, TX to Alfonso Cardenas Sr. and Ana Maria Ibarra who preceded him in death along with his sister Beatrice Cardenas. Alfonso was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He Proudly served our country for over 20 years in the Army and National Guard. He also worked for over 31 years for the City of El Paso. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Bertha Yolanda Cardenas; children, Cynthia Hernandez, Beatrice Lopez, Andrea Cardenas, Anna Cardenas and Alfonso Cardenas III; step-children, Gilbert Sanchez Jr., Delma Armendariz, Veronica Sanchez; 9 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild; siblings, Jose Cardenas, Maria Guadalupe Cardenas, Jorge O. Cardenas, Juan D. Cardenas, Blanca Cardenas, Mary de la Garza, Luis E. Cardenas, and Luz Rebollo.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 11:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
