Alexander Michael Kassim, 79, passed away on Saturday, December 7th, 2024.
He was born on April 25th, 1945, in Manhattan, New York, to Ali & Carmen Kassim. He was a proud resident of El Paso, TX.
He married Mazie Kassim (Edwards) on December 20th 1966, in New York, New York. He was commissioned in the military in 1966, he served in a tour in the Vietnam Conflict. At the end of his career he was awarded two Legion of Merits, dedicating 26 years to the US Army. He then spent 10 passionate years teaching at El Paso Community College. Alexander was very outgoing and loved meeting new people. His family and his love for capturing memories were what he cherished most. Alexander always had the ability to make anyone smile.
Alexander was preceded in death by his parents Ali and Carmen Kassim, and son Christopher Kassim. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mazie Kassim of El Paso, Texas; a son, Alexander Kassim Jr. (Kristin Oliver) of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and grandchildren, Isaac Kassim of El Segundo, California, and Alma Kassim of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and sister, Nancy Kassim Farran (Mark Farran) of New York City, New York; and sister-in-law, Beverly Nelson of Atlanta, Georgia.
Visitation will begin at 11:00am on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Committal Service to follow at 1:00pm on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
