Alex W. McNeal Jr. 63, long-time resident of El Paso, TX, Retired US Army First Sergeant, passed away at home on Friday February 15, 2013. He was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1950 to the late Annie McNeal and Alex W. McNeal Sr.
He served 25 years in the US Army stationed in Germany, Ft. Hood, TX, Izmir, Turkey, Ft. Bliss, TX, Fitzsimmons AMC, and Korea, and was awarded, to name a few: Expert Field Medical Badge, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Drill Sergeants Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Legion of Merit. After retirement, he was a self-employed contractor in Denver Colorado, and an instructor of Introduction to Computers at four of the five campuses of El Paso Community College.
Known affectionately to friends and family as “Mac, Dad, Pops, Uncle Mac, First Sergeant, and Top,” he had a wonderful life. He is survived by his dear wife, Brenda McNeal, whom he would have been celebrating a wedding anniversary of 33 years in March. Other survivors include their two sons, Alex W. McNeal III of El Paso, and Christopher L. McNeal of El Paso.
He is preceded by baby, the family dog.
