Alejandro Rayas a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away on November 4, 2022. He passed away at his home with his family by his side. Alejandro was born in El Paso, TX. He attended Bowie and Cathedral High School, where he played football. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951, served during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, he graduated from UTEP. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he retired.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife Socorro Mandujan, loving parents Ysabel Rayas and Esperanza Castillo Rayas, brother Robert Rayas and sister Conception (Concha) Rodriguez. He is survived by his son Alex Rayas Jr., daughter Irma Rayas-Banks, daughter-in-law Susannah Rayas, son-in-law Daniel Banks and three grandchildren Cashlee Fox (Justin), Sarah and Stetson Rayas. Also survived by his loving sister Esperanza (Tiny) Prieto and brother Salvador (Chava) Rayas. He was a funny, loving, and dedicated person to his family and friends. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Monday, November 14, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar. Interment to follow at 11:00 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
