SANTA TERESA, NEW MEXICO – Albert C. Massa Jr. (Corkey) passed away March 25, 2007
Born March 20, 1927 in San Francisco, California to Margaret Massa and Albert C. Massa Sr., Albert Massa Jr. spent his youthful years growing up in the city of Hayward, CA where he lived with his mother and father. He is fondly referred to as “Corkey” by his close friends and family members.
As a young man, Corkey joined the United States Merchant Marines as the age of 16. He very proudly served his country and took great pride in being a veteran of the Armed Forces.
Corkey lived in Pleasanton, CA between 1961 and 1982, where he helped raise his three daughters. He was very active in the local Lyon’s, Rotary and Optimist Clubs.
Corkey retired from Kaufman and Broad in 2005 after several years as their consumer affairs manager and moved to Santa Teresa, New Mexico to breed and race, race horses with his loving partner, Val Tohill.
Surviving are his son, Lawrence Massa of Sacramento, CA, daughter Mary (Shelley) Massa-Gooch and husband Watson of Los Osos, CA, daughter Margaret Massa and her two daughters Courtney and Nicole Holmes of Oceanside, CA, and daughter Nancy Massa and her daughter Samantha of Castro Valley, CA.
