Abraham Chavez III

Abraham Chavez III, 75, formerly of Arizona, sadly left us on December 13, 2022, after having recently relocated to El Paso, TX.  Abe is preceded in death by his beloved parents; Maestro Abraham Chavez Jr. and Lucy Villegas Chavez. 

Abraham III (Abe) is survived by his two siblings; Eduardo Chavez (Wife: MaryLou) and Lisa Vasquez (Husband: Joe), five nieces and nephews; Eddie Chavez (Wife: Beth, sons: Jackson & Carter), Yvette Chavez-Lascurain (son: Carlitos & daughter: Alexis), Desiree Serrano (Husband: Oscar Ornelas, son: Xavier Beltran, and daughter: Hailey), Joseph Vasquez (Wife: Jenee, & daughter: Natalie), Jessica Vasquez (Son: Liam), and Matthew Chavez-Engle. 

Born on November 1, 1947, Abe was a proud alumnus of El Paso High School, UTEP, and the University of Colorado, Boulder.

While in Colorado, purchased a small ranch with horses and his two endeared four-legged companions, Midas and Lance.

Having traveled the world and Headquartered in Connecticut performing as an Internal Auditor for IBM for over 23 years, Abe retired from the corporate world and pursued the art of natural healing. He studied Reiki, became a Reiki Master, introduced the Rain Drop technique, and successfully practiced his craft in Arizona for many years.  Abe also conducted open forums in his home as an Eckart Tolle practitioner.  

During his extensive travels throughout the Southwest, Abe became a devotee of the Native American way of life and assembled an impressive Native American art collection of paintings and pottery in addition to his rare gem collection. For years, Abe’s benevolent nature supported the Lakota Nation children with generous gifts and befriended artists including R. Carlos Nakai and Joseph Fire Crow. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, and babysitting his brother, Ed’s, little Yorkie, Mona Lisa Marie.

The strength and caring of Abe’s gloriously loving heart will be forever remembered by those he leaves.

Pall Bearers include:  Joe Vasquez, Joseph Vasquez, Matthew Chavez-Engle, Eddie Chavez, Jackson Chavez, Carter Chavez.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm, at Sunset Funeral Home-West. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2022, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 930 E. Redd Rd., El Paso, TX 79912.

Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler Dr.
